Native American Origin Myth

In today’s class we read an origin myth about the creation of Earth and Humanity. The myth featured First Man, First Woman, Salt Woman, Fire God, Coyote, and Begochiddy, the child of the Sun. To summarize the myth humans travelled across four different worlds in attempt to find a good world. The coyote stole a baby in the third world and that caused a flood created by Begochiddy. In the humans settled on the fourth world that is known as Earth. In the end Humans learn to live righteously and be grateful for what they have. Mr. Rease assigned us with creating our origin myth that is due in Friday.

Native American Literature

In today’s class we learned about Native American Literature. We discussed what we knew about Native Americans, what’s we wanted to know about Native Americans, and what we learned. We learned that Native Americans had a lot of their history and culture wiped and they were liked to tell stories. We learned the difference between Myth, Legend, and Religion. And we took notes about it all.

Pre-Test

In yesterdays class we did a pre assessment test. We learned a method by Mr. Rease which is called process of elimination. We read an article and later used that article to answer multiple choice questions. We also had writing segments that we needed to answer. This test was used to gauge our capabilities and help Mr. Rease on what he needs to re-teach and start our class on.

Houston Chronicle

In todays class we read and dissected an article about the  Gonzales, Texas dress code. In this article we circled words we weren’t familiar with, underlined important details, asked questions, and made connections. We later had a question we needed to answer and spun a wheel to determine who will share their answer, aloud to the class. We answered the question in the back of the article and was told to write at least one sentence. Every student had a different question.
