Constantly Risking Absurdity

In todays class we read and analyzed a poem by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. We will be dealing with this poem for the entire week. We watched a video about two acrobats. One walking over the Grand Cannon on a tightrope, and another over two building who did not make it. We then took notes about the poem. We will do this for the assessment on Friday.

Group assignment

In today’s class we had a change in seats. Mr. Rease had put all of our names in a random group generator, and that determined our seats and groups. We have a group project to do. In this group project we are reading and analyzing a poem by Robert Frost. We also will have to present our work on Thursday to the class. We will have two grading parts; group, and individual.

Vocabulary words four

In yesterdays class we had a substitute teacher. Our assignment for the day was to write down and identify 15 vocabulary words. We also had to write them down, and fill them in on sentences. We were given all of class to do it. Mr. Rease should be back on Monday.

My special place

A special place I go to when i’m feeling down is my room. I feel most like my self when in my room laying in my bed. I get great rest and can get work done. I don’t need to worry about people judging me. I feel most authentic when in my room and and above all else, I appreciate the silence that it brings. 

Out Out, paragraph writing

In today’s class we given all class period to write seven paragraphs. We were given seven prompts and had to answer them. We read and analyzed the poem by Robert Frost, and used it to answer the prompts. In the end I couldn’t finish all of the paragraphs. I only got to five.

Out Out

In today’s class we read a called Out Out. It was about a boy who suddenly got his arm cut off due to him being reckless while working with a saw. The theme of the poem was a sudden or flash death. We analyzed the poem and we also wrote notes on it. We will continue on the poem tomorrow.

Comedians

In yesterday’s class we took notes about comedians and what stirs controversy. We listed six things that would lead to controversy. We also wrote wether or not comedians are vital to society. After we five claims to support our argument. And also five counter claims to disprove our argument. Lastly we argued about our opinions.

Unpopular Opinion

In today’s class we wrote notes on one page. It was about unpopular opinions. We were given one strip of paper with an unpopular opinion and we were to write a claim that agreed, disagreed, and a compromise. Mr. Rease then spun a wheel to decide who would share out their answers. We also joined in on the discussion as a class. In the end we gave our papers back to Mr.Rease.

Analyzing the Promt

In today’s class we used a simple lined paper to do the assignment. We wrote five things that were unknown to us. And we also wrote a stance on whether or not exploring the unknown is valuable to us. We wrote five claims about why the unknown is or is not valuable to us. Then we wrote five counter claims. And lastly we provided evidence for our claims.

Vocabulary Lesson Two

Today’s class was a block schedule class. We were given a short open notebook quiz on lesson one vocabulary words. We were then given a new set of vocabulary words. We had to write them down on our note book on top of their definitions. We also had to two work problems about the words.

Driverless cars passage

We continued with what we were doing yesterday. We were to find claims and later identify to words given in the passage. It took all of the class period to complete the work. This assignment was given to us to learn how to identify claims. It was also a practice on shortening text, and the authors thoughts and opinions.

In today’s class we read about driverless cars. We were given two reading; one reading being against driverless cars, and another being for driverless cars. We had to highlight the claims and also define words given to us in the worksheet. We also had to give a summary about the authors opinion in the topic. Lastly we discussed about points made and our thoughts and opinions on the passage.
