Let America be America Again

 In today’s class we read and analyzed a poem by Langston Hughs. It was a poem about reclaiming your pride and identity as an American, while being a minority. On a sheet of paper we wrote down the role’s of certain people in society, and the issues they faced. We also wrote down issues in this Country and our solution to them. Lastly we turned in our homework from yesterday.

Theme, Unanswered Question, and Arguement

 In today’s class we continued with what we were doing last Friday. We read from various poems by Langston Hugh’s and had to fill out a theme, unanswered question, and argument. We had the entire class period to do it. It was also due as homework, and will be completed by Tuesday. Lastly we will have a test about Langston Hugh’s this week.

Theme, Unanswered Question, and Arguement

 In today’s class Mr. Rease handed us a practice packet for the EOC. We were also given a sheet of all the poems we’ve done with Langston Hugh’s. We were to identify the themes of the poem and have to supporting evidences to back it up. We then wrote a complex sentence about the overall themes. We then had to ask ourselves a question, and answer it ourselves. Lastly we had to compose an argument and support it with evidence and reasoning.

Mother to Son

In today’s class we read on a poem called Mother to Son by Langston Hughs. It was a poem about the difficulties of life and how some people are born with unfortunate opportunities and others are blessed. Regardless we have to continue to keep moving forward. We then analyzed the themes and wrote our connection to the story. Lastly we answered questions about the poem on a separate sheet of paper.

Dreams Defferd

In today’s class we read and analyzed a poem by Langston Hughs called dreams deferred. He watched a Nike ad, and analyzed was the slogan “just do it” means. We than completed a worksheet about our own dreams, how we plan on achieving it, and things we can do to stay on track of it. Lastly we shared our answers out.

The Negro Speaks of Rivers

  In today’s class we learned about a poem called The Negro Speaks of Rivers by Langston Hughs. This poem was about black race, and how it is eternal. We also answered questions about this poem, and about ourselves. We also watched a quick video about Langston Hughs about his beliefs and him reciting his poems. Lastly we heard a little about Mr. Rease own ethnicity and family tree.

Substitute Teacher

In today’s class we had a substitute. She took our attendance and then we did our assignment. I couldn’t do it, due to my Chromebook being locked. I went to the library where is was scanned and will be unlocked in an hour. For the rest of the class I worked on other assignments I had.

Black History Month and Presentation

In today’s class we learned about another black figure. She was the first African American woman in the senate. She will serve for life. Next we presented our projects, I got to present. We will continue to complete our projects next Monday. I also got to complete my worksheet paper over the weekends.

Black History Month & Presentation

In today’s class we learned about a black figure. Her name Condolceza Rice, and she was the first African American woman to serve as U.S Secretary of State. We later filled in sentences about racism, and shared our opinion on it. Lastly we presented our mini projects to the class. We ran into technical issues and had to end it early.

Great Gatsby reading questions 7

 In today’s class we read The Great Gatsby chapter seven. I took the ESOL test so I missed a couple minutes of class time. We also completed questions about the chapter. Our project still continues, and we still need to work on them. They will be due on Thursday.

Great Gatsby mini project

In today’s class we continued with our projects from Friday. Mr. Rease gave us a paper to keep us organized. We used all of the class period to work on the project. The project is due on Thursday. Everyone must present for a grade.

Reading Assessment

In today’s class we had a reading assessment to do. It was five questions, and it was on illuminate. The assessment had us answer question on what the best answer is to certain passages. I got a 4/5 and am pretty happy about it. Lastly we were also assigned a mini project where we choose a character off the book, and list either 10 websites, songs, or items found in the trash that would align with your character. You also have to give reasoning. We will present our mini projects next Thursday.

Chapter 6 Reading assignment

In Thursday Block schedule, we had a Substitute teacher. The Substitute had assigned us to read Great Gatsby chapter six and answer reading questions. We completed our assignment, and had the rest of the class to do whatever. I studied for my math quiz. In the end it was a chill and relax class.

Great Gatsby Poster

 In Mondays class we presented our posters. Each group presented their own character, and listed five of their traits. They also said what certain symbols or drawing on our posters meant. Our group was assigned with Myrtle. In the end it was fun to have worked in a team and present to the entire class.
